The Mill in Abilene!

Friday, August 21, 2015 by Danny Ellison | Performances

The old fiddle and mandolin made an appearance last night at The Mill in Abilene! I played with friend and co-teacher Matt Ellis, who owns Mellis Music Studio where I teach. We are often accused of being brothers because our last names are relatively the same. He is Ellis and I am Ellison, which unfortunately makes Matt my father, I guess!

Either way, we brought the thunder last night playing songs from all over the genre spectrum. It is always fun and challenging to play with Matt because you never know when he will be jamming in the key of C, and the all of the sudden yell "C sharp!!!" and transition to a devil key! If you haven't made it out to The Mill, it is a must! Go check it out!

Why "Ye Old Web Log?"

Recently, while traveling with Nashville-based Merging Blue, my daughter and I stopped for breakfast in Amarillo at a dive called Ye Old Pancake House! And, in the spirit of Jim Gaffigan, it was delicious! So much so that I have decided to borrow (steal) a small bite of their old-world creativity and use it as a namesake for my blog. You can find this blog publicly on my website. I almost guarantee that I will not keep up with this blog very well, but I'll try to give you the highlights of my life as a diaper-changing musician family man guy who is carving out an existence as a full-time musician in a smallish West-Texas town known as Ye Old Abilene!
